When you scan a product barcode or search for a product, we record the barcode number, product name, and the date of the scan. This data is used to provide your scan history, product comparisons, and personalised recommendations. Product nutritional information is retrieved from the Open Food Facts database, an open-source food products database.

2.3 Camera Access

Our app requests access to your device's camera solely for the purpose of scanning product barcodes. Camera images are processed locally on your device for barcode detection and are not stored, transmitted, or retained by us. You can revoke camera access at any time through your device settings.

2.4 Dietary and Health Preferences

If you choose to set dietary preferences, allergen alerts, or health priorities, this information is stored in your account to personalise product recommendations and filter alternatives. This may include dietary restrictions (e.g., vegan, gluten-free), allergen information (e.g., nuts, dairy), and custom health priorities.

2.5 Chat Conversations

If you use the Vicki AI nutritionist feature, your chat messages and conversation history are stored to provide contextual responses and maintain conversation continuity. Chat data is processed using artificial intelligence services to generate nutritional advice.

2.6 Device and Usage Information

We may collect device information including device type, operating system, and push notification tokens (if you enable notifications). We also collect basic usage analytics such as page views to improve the Service.

🤝 4. Third-Party Services

We use the following third-party services to operate the Service. Each service has its own privacy policy governing the use of your information:

Open Food Facts

We retrieve product nutritional data from the Open Food Facts open database. Barcode queries are sent to their API. No personal information is shared.

Payment Provider

Payment processing for web subscriptions is handled by our payment provider. Your payment card details are collected and processed directly by the provider and are never stored on our servers.

RevenueCat

In-app purchases on iOS and Android are managed through RevenueCat. RevenueCat processes purchase receipts from Apple and Google to verify subscriptions. See RevenueCat's Privacy Policy.

Firebase Cloud Messaging

Push notifications are delivered through Google's Firebase Cloud Messaging service. We store your device push token to send notifications. See Firebase's Privacy Policy.

Manus Authentication

User authentication is handled through Manus OAuth. Your basic profile information (name, email) is shared during the login process.

If you use the Family plan, you can invite up to five family members to share shopping lists. Family members can see shared list items and the name of the member who added each item. Family members cannot access each other's scan history, dietary preferences, or chat conversations. The family account holder can remove members at any time.

Your data is stored on secure servers with encryption in transit (TLS/SSL) and at rest. We implement appropriate technical and organisational measures to protect your personal information against unauthorised access, alteration, disclosure, or destruction. However, no method of transmission over the internet or electronic storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

We retain your personal information for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide you with the Service. Scan history is retained for the duration of your account. Chat conversations are retained to maintain conversation context. If you delete your account, we will delete or anonymise your personal information within 30 days, except where we are required to retain it by law.
